office and service workers hurt at work Just because you work in an office or service-oriented environment does not mean that it is free of injury hazards. Even in an office setting, an accident can occur. When such an accident leads to a workplace injury, you have the right to seek compensation.

Are you suffering from back strain due to lifting heavy file boxes?

Does your arm or shoulder bother you as a result of doing repetitive tasks all day long?

You're not alone.

Typical office and service worker injuries include:

  • Lifting injuries
  • Repetitive motion such as Carpal Tunnel
  • Accidents such as tripping over a cord or other office equipment
  • Slipping, falling
  • Strains due to poorly designed work stations

Carpal Tunnel and Women

A report released by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) revealed that more than half of all food cashiers, (jobs predominantly held by women), suffered some degree of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and other forms of repetitive motion injuries. The repetitive motion of scanning products at high speed on a regular basis was noted as the culprit.

Other findings include:

  • Women are twice as likely to develop Carpal Tunnel Syndrome as men.
  • While women account for about 45% of all workers, they experience nearly two-thirds of all work-related Repetitive Strain Injuries.
